Trails 4 Tails 50K Course Overview
The 31 mile course is a diverse mix of technical single track, horse trails, short section of country road and a short new hand cut section through the brush of BaldPate Mountain. The Race starts in the Historic Washington Crossing park in Hopewell Township, NJ. Then travels across Church Road into the BaldPate Preserve which took on major damage form the July Tornado. We were able to work in collaboration with the park to alter our course, cut some new trails to get over to Pleasant Valley rd via the Grist Mill trail AKA Maple Syrup. The BaldPate sections crosses Church Rd from Washington Crossing Park, take the Green trail down across the creek and up to the Pleasant Valley parking lot where you will find Aid. Left into the White Ridge trail, all the way to the BP lookout. Take the paved road down to Fiddlers Creek lot. Climb up Blue and take White Ridge back towards PV lot. Turn left on connector trail, up to X trail. Drop down to the new cut path along the power lines, take to Grist Mill trail and out to Pleasant Valley Rd From there you cross Pleasant Valley rd and head around the Howell Living Farm via Valley rd to the Dry Run Creek Trail. This is a beautiful short punchy trail that leads you to the Rock Hopper trail and the Aid Station where you cross rt. 518 to access the trail head for Rock Hopper. Rock Hopper is the most technical section of the course. This year we will go out and back entering on Blue crossing the creek and picking up Red heading out to orange, crossing the power lines and turning around at the road and heading back the same way you went in. Once you exit Rock Hopper, cross back over rt. 518 you will head back to Washington Crossing on trail in the most direct way to the finish. From the Aid station at Rock Hopper you are approximately 5 miles from the finish. There are aid stations approximately every 5 miles, some less some a little more. There will be Aid at the Nature Center in Wash. Xing Park, the Pleasant Valley Lot in BaldPate, the Fiddlers Creek Lot in Baldpate & at the Trail Head to Rock Hopper at RT 518. |
Fallen trees will either be cleared before race day or have a round about.
